~Introduction~
In the world of Solthinia, players choose a class to play as that will determine their way of playing the game. When the player first logs on, they'll notice the "Traveler" tag next to their name. This is a basic class given to the player, who will be able to choose one of the four main classes upon meeting the requirements to change. The four main classes are magic, ranged combat, melee combat, and a special mining class. In each class there are four levels of advancement, and with each rank you gain the ability to use tools out of the next material. Upon reaching the forth, the player can either choose to progress to the ultimate level of their class, or branch off into a dual-class. There are three dual classes; Battlemage, Ranger, and Arcane Archer. The miner path does not branch into a dual class, as it's special all on its own.
As players progress through their ranks, they'll gain access to specified kits by using the "/kit [name of kit]" command. In these kits will be various tools and items for that player to use at their disposal. These could range from swords and armor for warriors, or fire blocks and food for mages. One thing about kits, however, is that they have a cooldown counter, and a player can only access their kit after the given time is up. In addition to Kits, players will develop more skills and abilities as they progress through their ranks. This makes the classes more specialized, and gives players something to look forward to!
Did you choose to be a melee character, but want to use bows? Or did you choose a magic character but want to be better with swords? Well fear not, because if you want to change your class, you can! Once a week, you'll have the chance to change what class you wish to be, for an in-game price (yet to be decided), although your first change will be free. When you change your class, you'll retain the skill levels and ranks you've achieved while playing as it. However with your new class, you WILL start at the first class rank, with no experience in your new skills. If you wish, you can get all the way to fourth level in one class, and switch to a new one when your done.
-Traveler-
Traveler is the class players start as when they log in for the first time. It's an extremely basic class with a dash of skill proficiency, and only the ability to use wooden tools. After reaching a total of 20 skill points, the traveler can choose to rank up to a magic class, ranged class, or a melee class. However, if the player wishes pursue more of a challenge, they can continue to play as a traveler and amass a greater total of skill points and become an adventurer class.
The adventurer class gets a little of the ability of ALL the classes, a jack of all trodes if you would. but it's SEVERELY difficult to get to play an adventurer.
~Magic~
Magic players have a very different style of play than the other classes. While they can use swords, they will be nowhere near as proficient with them as melee classes will, and they can't use bows outright. What the mage DOES get, however, is the ability to place fire blocks to create traps for their enemies. Not only that, but they get usage of other blocks other players CAN'T use, like portal blocks, glow stone, and other such things. Magic classes are also the only ones capable of using Redstone and Redstone torches, as it's magical in property. However, one of the biggest boons a mage gets, is their ability to utilize the rune crafting plugin with the most proficiency.
The major downside to mages, is that they only really have one major skill, being herbalism. This makes them very efficient when farming and acquiring food, but they gain no proficiency anywhere else.
~Ranged~
Ranged classes don't have any melee proficiency, nor can they use magic, but they make up for it, being the only class set that gets bows. Not only that, but their kits give the ranged player an allotment of arrows they can use immediately, as well as materials to make more, or even a new bow. Ranged classes start off with woodcutting as their main skill, and gain archery and acrobatics as they progress through the ranks.
Rangers have a few downsides to them as well. As stated before, they get no melee weapon proficiency, nor do they get any magic what-so-ever. They also don't START with bows, which makes getting past the first rank a bit more challenging.
~Melee~
Well if you like bashing something until it stops moving, this would likely be the class for you. Melee classes gain proficiency in swords, and even axes at their second class rank. Why axes? Well, the Mcmmo plugin makes axes powerful melee weapons with someone who has proficiency in the skill. Not only that, but using an axe will give the player a chance to score a critical hit, doing double damage to the enemy. Melee classes even get the acrobatics skill at their third rank, making them rather resilient. Their kits usually contain a weapon of sorts, and some decent armor to get them going.
While Melee classes may be good for beginners, and sound pretty tough, they have NO proficiency in bows, or the usage of magic. Aside from that, they're pretty well rounded.
~Mining~
The mining classes are a very special case. They don't gain much in offensive ability, but they're extremely versatile. They gain the mining and excavation skills, making gathering materials a walk in the park for them. They'll need them though, because with the use of an iron block, miners can repair armor and tools of all kinds. All they need is one hunk of material the armor or tool is made out of in their inventory, and right click on their "anvil" to repair the item. If you think that's cool. miners are also the only class who are allowed to operate explosives.
As stated previously, miners don't have much in line of offensive capability, so they'll pale in comparison to a melee or ranged class. Miners also don't get the ability to dual class at their fourth rank.
~Dual-Classes~
Dual classes are only available to players once they're able to move to their fourth class rank. They choose a dual class instead of their fourth natural rank if they wish. They won't gain the abilities of their natural forth rank, but they WILL gain a couple abilities of the rank they dual class in.
One thing to keep in mind when dual classing, you don't receive ALL of the benefits from the class you dual class in. For instance, a melee class dual classing into battlemage, WON'T get the ability to use Redstone, and a magic class dual classing into battlemage WON'T get the axes skill.
-Battlemage-
Battlemages are available for dual classing for magic and melee classes once they're able to move on to their fourth rank. Battlemages gain proficiency in swords, AND have the ability to use "magic", making them a bunch of fun to play. Imagine dropping fire blocks in an enemy's path, then wailing on them with a diamond sword, that's what you can do as a battlemage. Their kits give them a host of fun toys, and even some armor to wear as well.
-Arcane Archer-
Arcane archers are available to magic and ranged classes who have gotten to the point where they can progress to their fourth class rank. They gain the ability to use bows, AND utilize magic in their offensive endeavors. You can essentially set up a wall of fire and blast your enemies with arrows from afar. The arcane archer's kits include fire blocks, as well as other goodies for making arrows, and even some armor.
-Ranger-
Rangers are available for melee and ranged classes who have gotten to the point where they can move to their forth class rank. They gain proficiency in swords, AND gain the ability to use bows, making them extremely versatile in combat situations. Their kits include some arrows, and even a sword and some armor, as well as other goodies.
